DALLAS – Dallas College Mountain View women's basketball team beat host Dallas College Richland 78-70 Friday afternoon in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III Central District Tournament.
The fourth-seeded Lions (11-13) will play third-seeded Joliet Junior College (15-13) at 1 p.m. Saturday for the championship in a game to air on TSBN Network. The winner advances to the NJCAA Division III National Tournament March 12-15 in Rochester, Minnesota.
Tied 64-64 with 3:51 to play, Fiona Hasse scored on a dish from Jourdan Jones to put the Lions ahead by a bucket. Jones drained a three-pointer from the top of the key at the 1:53 mark to extend the lead to five. Asia Zachary's driving layup made it a seven-point game to put it away.
Mountain View overcame a double-digit deficit after the first quarter to pull within five at halftime. The Lions shot 44 percent from the field, knocking down 26 of 59.
The Lions will be playing for the second district title in three years, having won the 2023 championship before advancing to their first national tournament in program history.
