Lions Begin Season Monday, Home Opener Set for Thursday

DALLAS -- Dallas College Mountain View baseball team is scheduled to open the season Monday at Cisco College. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.

The Lions' home opener is set for 1 p.m. Thursday against Huston-Tillotson University. That will begin a six-game homestand into Monday, Feb. 13. Mountain View, which went 10-33 overall, 3-27 in the Dallas Athletic Conference last season, will also host Texas Reds Post Grad Friday and Saturday, Rust College Friday and Saturday, and North Arkansas College Feb. 13 during that homestand.

Catcher Anthony Casteneda batted .268 with five home runs, four doubles, 14 RBI and two stolen bases in 29 games last year. First baseman/pitcher Keaton King had 22 hits, three doubles, a triple, two homers, 14 RBI and a stolen base in 32 games. Middle infielder/pitcher Adrian Cindo collected 21 hits, scoring 21 runs, driving in seven runs and stealing seven bases in 35 games. Second baseman Johnny Toups had five hits in 11 games, while driving in three runs and scoring three times.

Pitcher Taha Ghaniem appeared in 10 games, fanning 10 batters in 15.2 innings.

The Lions will begin DAC play Feb. 22 at Dallas College Eastfield.
