Lions Shut Out North Lake, 4-0

DALLAS – Dallas College Mountain View pitchers Sloane Reves and Gianni Gonzalez combined for a complete-game shutout in Wednesday's series-opening 4-0 win over Dallas College North Lake.

Greg Willis homered to left in the second inning, giving Mountain View (12-24, 2-17 Dallas Athletic Conference) all the run support its pitching staff needed to blank the Blazers (18-24, 8-11).

Reeves went the first four innings, allowing three hits and two walks, and struck out four in his longest outing of the season. Gonzalez cleaned up the last five innings, giving up four hits and no walks, and struck out three to complete the shutout.

It was the Lions' first league shutout of the season, and their fourth of the year.

Lane Vicknair was 2-for-3 with a stolen base. He scored on Kortes Howard's single to center in the second to put Mountain View ahead 2-0. Howard was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the fourth to make it 3-0. Marlon Lavalais' sacrifice fly in the seventh added an insurance run for the Lions, who matched the Blazers with nine hits.

Vicknair and Howard each were 2-for-3. Shaun Williams and Ian Bower went 2-for-4.

Leo Salas was 3-for-4 with a double, and Lincoln Skinner and Michael Riberich each had two hits for the Blazers.

North Lake starter Logan Stark went five innings, allowing three runs on five hits and a walk, and struck out four, reaching 91 miles per hour on the radar gun. Brayan Navarrete gave up a run on four hits and a walk, and struck out three in three innings of relief.

The two teams will play a doubleheader at North Lake noon Friday.
