FARMERS BRANCH, Texas – Dallas College Mountain View's baseball team beat Dallas College Brookhaven, 13-6, Friday in the penultimate game of the season.

The Lions snapped Brookhaven's four-game winning streak, while snapping an eight-game skid of their own. Mountain View (14-32, 4-25 Dallas Athletic Conference) will finish the regular season 12 p.m. Saturday at Brookhaven (24-26, 15-14) in the rubber game of the three-game series. The Bears won the first game Wednesday, 11-10, despite the Lions' five-run ninth inning comeback bid.

Friday, Mountain View left no doubt, and didn't need a late rally to put Brookhaven away. The Lions raced out to an 8-1 lead after scoring four runs in the fourth inning. They extended the lead to 10-1 after picking up a pair in the sixth. After the Bears scored three in the seventh, the Lions answered with three of their own in top of the eighth, and Brookhaven mustered just two more runs the rest of the way.

It was Mountain View's first win over Brookhaven this season.

Ian Bower was 3-for-5 with a double, triple and two runs batted in. Johnny Toups went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base. Lane Vicknair and Greg Willis each had two hits and an RBI. Vicknair doubled twice. Shaun Williams doubled, and drove in three runs.

Willis picked up the win, going six innings, allowing six hits, four runs, three earned, and two walks. Daniel Martinez and Tyler Pelton each pitched an inning of scoreless relief, Martinez working an extra third, while combining for three strikeouts.

The Lions outhit the Bears, 13-9.

Mountain View is playing for its second straight 15-win season Saturday. The Lions have recorded double-digit victory totals in each of their past four seasons.
