Mountain View Call of Duty Wins First Two

SCHEDULE

Dallas College Mountain View esports' Call of Duty team got off to a great start in the spring season, winning twice.

In Week 1, the Lions beat Shelton State Community College, 3-2, in a Modern Warfare 2 series of 4 versus 4. Mountain View won the first game before dropping the next two. But the Lions used a big comeback to win the next two games to take the series.

The following week, Mountain View's 4v4 Modern Warfare 2 team beat Harrisburg Area Community College, 3-2, in another battle. The Lions opened up a 1-0 lead after winning the first game. After falling behind as the series continued, Mountain View used its first in-game substitution of the season. Despite a mental lapse, the Lions regrouped and asserted their dominance to win the series.

"The 4v4 team found its identity, going into Week 3," Mountain View coach Brody Rush said.

In FIFA 23, Mountain View's Tulush Mahmood and Sergio Gonzalez both picked up forfeit wins due to technical difficulties on their opponents' ends in Week 1. Mahmood earned his victory over Garden City Community College, while Gonzalez's win came at the expense of Hinds Community College. Mountain View's Zaid Gutierrez received a bye in Week 1 and a forfeit win due to a no-show from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M's back-to-back national semifinalist "Cascola" in Week 2.

In Week 2, Mahmood, "Rage," battled back-to-back national runner-up "Ackemaroyes," of Lake Land College in a five-game series before falling, 3-2.

"Rage displayed his talents during a high-level matchup, taking the series all the way to five games," Rush said.

Gonzalez dropped his Week 2 matchup, falling 2-0.
