Lions off to Hot Start

Lions off to Hot Start

Talk about a hot start.

Dallas College Mountain View's men's basketball team is 6-0, following a 103-96 victory at Western Oklahoma State Saturday.

The Lions' six consecutive wins to begin a season topped the five straight victories Mountain View ran off to begin the 2016-17 campain. Four of Mountain View's six wins this year have come on the road against notable opponents, including Western Oklahoma State and the University of Arkansas Cossatot.

One of the Lions' key returners, Cedrick Dodd II, is leading the team in scoring with 22.3 points per game. Dodd posted a career high in points against Concordia University Junior Varsity, finishing with 32 points, including 30 in the second half.

Jezrael De Jesus Fargas and Justice Marmara have also turned in notable performances. Fargas is a freshman from Killeen, who is not afraid of the big moments. He is averaging 15.3 points per game, and has already had a team high in assists with eight against Jarvis Christian. Marmara, a transfer from Redlands Universty, is averaging 10.8 points per game, to go along with 7.3 rebounds per game. Marmara already has two double-doubles this season. He had 18 points and 11 rebounds against Arkansas Cossatot, and 15 points and 12 rebounds against Concordia.

The Lions' next game is at home this Tuesday against Southwestern Christian College. This is a rivalry that dates back more than 15 years. Come out and support the Lions as they look to keep the win streak going.
