Lions' Quadruple Double Does Number on Jacksonville

DALLAS – Joshua Smith had a monster game, and Mountain View roared to a 97-84 win at home over Jacksonville College Saturday.

Smith, a 6-foot-8 freshman forward from Plano, Texas, had 35 points, 21 rebounds and four blocks as the Lions broke out in the second half, turning a tie game into a convincing victory. Mountain View (4-4) won its second in three days, shooting 50.6 percent from the field.

Smith was 13 of 19 from the field, and 8 of 12 from the free throw line. He grabbed 12 offensive rebounds in a dominant display of offensive production to lift the Lions.

Xavier Peyton scored 25 points, going 11 of 20 from the field, and had five assists and two steals. Doviyon Bradford had 15 points, 11 boards, four assists and four steals. Cam Spencer finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Louis Conner had 11 assists.

Mountain View outrebounded Jacksonville, 56-32. Both teams committed 12 turnovers. The Lions had 24 assists on 39 field goals.

It was the third straight game Mountain View was credited with 20 or more assists. The 56 rebounds are a season high.

The Lions will play at Paris Junior College 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
