Lions Knock Off Southwestern Christian College on Road

TERRELL, Texas – Dallas College Mountain View men's basketball team beat host Southwestern Christian College, 99-93, Tuesday.

The Lions, who received votes in this week's National Junior College Athletic Association Division III rankings, picked up their second victory over a scholarship program this season. Southwestern Christian is an NJCAA Division I institution.

It was Mountain View's third straight victory, and the win bumped the Lions' record to 11-7.

Six players scored in double figures for Mountain View, who connected on 33 of 64 field goals for 51.6 percent. The Lions shot 42.1 percent from behind the three-point line. The Lions were 8 of 19 from downtown.

Tracy White scored a season-high 25 points on 9 of 13 shooting, and grabbed eight rebounds. He was 7 of 11 from the free throw line. Xavier Peyton had 18 points, four steals, four rebounds and a block. Joshua Smith had a double-double, scoring 10 points and grabbing 12 rebounds, and blocked five shots. Louis Conner finished with 11 points, eight assists and four boards. Bryant Smith had 10 points, seven rebounds, a steal and a block. Daniel Cervantes scored 10 points.

Mountain View built a 46-31 lead at halftime.

The Lions finished with 20 assists. It was the third straight game with 20 or more assists.

Mountain View will host Southwestern Assemblies of God University Junior Varsity Jan. 17.
