
Men's Hoops Jumps into Third Place in DAC as Holiday Break Begins
DALLAS – Augustine Chibuko scored 27 points, and had 10 rebounds, and Ashton Price had 25 points and seven boards as Dallas College Mountain View men's basketball team beat Dallas College Brookhaven, 82-80, Wednesday night.
It was the Lions' second straight win, and sends them into the holiday break with a 5-4 record at home. Mountain View improved to 7-11 overall, 2-3 in the Dallas Athletic Conference, leaping Brookhaven (4-15, 2-3) into third place in the league.
The Lions took an 11-point lead into halftime, and held off the Bears' second half charge to hold on for the win. Brookhaven outscored Mountain View, 46-37, in the second half.
Chibuko's 27 points are a season high. He was 10 of 14 from the field, and sank 7 of 9 free throws. He's scored in double figures in the last five games.
Mountain View shot 48.4 percent. Brookhaven hit 52.9 percent of its field goals.
Louis Conner had nine points, eight rebounds, six assists and two steals for the Lions. Jeremiah Talib added 10 points on 4 of 6 shooting.
Brookhaven's Brandon Webber had 19 points, going 9 of 14 from the floor, and five assists. Zach Gomez scored 13 points, and had seven assists. Jeremy Roman made all six field goals he attempted, finishing with 13 points, four rebounds and two steals. Jovan Danner added 12 points.
Mountain View is off for the holiday hiatus until Jan. 13 when it hosts Concordia University Junior Varsity and Nelson University JV on back-to-back days. The Lions begin the second of three rounds of DAC action Jan. 18 at Dallas College Eastfield.
