Jones Selected DAC Women's Hoops Player of Week

Dallas College Mountain View's Leah Jones was named the Dallas Athletic Conference women's basketball Player of the Week.

A freshman from Fort Worth, Jones averaged 15.7 points, 8.7 steals, 8.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and shot .457 from the field in three games for the Lions. She had a triple-double in an 80-75 win over the University of Arkansas Cossatot, scoring 24 points, grabbing 10 boards and recording 10 steals, while also distributing five assists.

Jones shot 16 of 35 from the floor as Mountain View opened the season with three straight wins. She was 8-for-12 from the field in the victory over Cossatot. She had nine steals, six rebounds and five assists in an 88-33 win over Southwestern Adventist University. Jones had 19 points on 7 of 15 shooting, including 4 of 8 from the free throw line, while grabbing nine rebounds and notching seven steals and a block in a 65-61 victory over Southwestern Assemblies of God University Junior Varsity.

Mountain View hosts Arkansas Cossatot at 5 p.m. Monday.
