Sherrod Chosen DAC Player of Week for Third Time
Dallas College Mountain View's Devon Sherrod was selected as the Dallas Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week.
This is the final weekly award of the season for women's basketball. It is also the third time Sherrod has received the honor.
A 5-foot-5-inch sophomore guard from Grand Prairie, Texas, Sherrod scored 33 points, had 10 rebounds, eight steals, five assists and a block in a win over Dallas College Richland. She was 11 of 22 from the field, and went 8 of 9 at the free throw line.
It was her 11th double-double of the season, and the second time she's scored 30 or more points. She had 36 points against the Dallas Angels Jan. 24.
Sherrod is averaging 22 points, 9.7 rebounds, 4.5 steals and 3.4 assists per game. She has scored in double figures in every game this season.
No. 15 in the final National Junior College Athletic Association Division III rankings, Mountain View (11-7) will play No. 11 Dallas College Cedar Valley (15-4) for the South Central District Championship 2 p.m. Saturday at Dallas College North Lake.
