Lions Move within Win of .500, Begin DAC Play Thursday

DALLAS – Jourdan Jones scored 26 points, and Kianna Jones and Saniya Black each had 13 as Dallas College Mountain View women's basketball team won its first game of the 2025 calendar year Tuesday, 85-70, over Nelson University's Junior Varsity in the Lions' Den.

The victory moved the Lions (7-8) within a game of .500 as they prepare for the start of Dallas Athletic Conference play at fifth-ranked Dallas College Cedar Valley 6 p.m. Thursday.

After splitting the first and second quarters with 24 and 17 points apiece, respectively, matching Nelson in opposite periods, Mountain View built a four-point lead in the third quarter. The Lions outscored Nelson, 26-15, in the fourth to put it away.

Jourdan Jones hit 10 of 14 field goals, and grabbed six rebounds. Kianna Jones was 5 of 8 from the floor, and had four rebounds. Black went 5 of 10 from the field off the bench, and pulled down six boards.

Jada Onyango scored 10 points, going 5 of 6 from the field, and Asia Zachary added eight points, five boards and a block.

Mountain View shot 53.1 percent from the field, going 34 of 64.
