DALLAS – Dallas College Mountain View women's soccer team picked up its first points of the season after tying National Junior College Athletic Association Division II National Park College, 1-1, Wednesday in a nonconference games.
The Lions (0-5-1, 0-3-0 Dallas Athletic Conference) dip back into league play 6 p.m. Friday when they host Dallas College North Lake (2-6-2, 1-3-0) in the penultimate game of the first round of conference games.
Mountain View forward Emily Mata scored the game's first goal on an assist from Elise Mora in the eighth minute. National Park's Emily Gorrell got the equalizer on a setup from Jada Hammett seven minutes later.
It was Mata's first goal of the season.
Lions keeper Nayomy Cueva stood on her toes in goal, however, keeping the Nighthawks (1-6-1) off the board the rest of the way. Cueva, a freshman from Frisco, Texas, stopped 10 shots in the tie. It was the third time this season she's recorded double-digit saves in a game.
The Lions improved to 0-2-1 at home.
