Dallas College Mountain View will open the 2022 fall athletics seasons Thursday, August 18.

Mountain View's volleyball team opens the season 7 p.m. Aug. 18 versus Coastal Bend College in the National Junior College Athletic Association Region V vs. Region XIV Showdown.

The Lions women's and men's soccer teams open the season Aug. 18 at Paris Junior College. The women's team kicks off at 3 p.m., while the men's team is set to begin at 5:30 p.m.

The Lions volleyball team will play three matches at the Region V vs. Region XIV Showdown at Coastal Bend College Aug. 18-20. Following a match at Ranger College Aug. 23, the Lions will compete in the Western Texas College Volleyball Fall Classic Aug. 26-27. Mountain View hosts Seminole State College Sept. 1 in the home opener. The Lions will compete in the Lee College Volleyball Invitational Sept. 16-17 in Baytown, Texas.

"My expectations are for us to come out stronger than we did the beginning of last season," Lions volleyball coach Jana Bonds said. "We play a lot of (NJCAA) Division I programs prior to our conference schedule, and I want us to compete with them more effectively. And to also have the same type of conference record or better than last season. Our mantra is #WeDoItWithHisGRACE,"

Mountain View opens Dallas Athletic Conference play Sept. 19 at Dallas College Eastfield. The Lions host Dallas College Brookhaven Sept. 26 in the first home conference match. The volleyball regular season concludes with a home match against Dallas College Richland Oct. 20.

Mountain View's volleyball team won the DAC regular season title last year, going 8-3 in conference play. The Lions went 18-13 overall, advancing to the NJCAA Division III Region V championship, where they fell to Brookhaven.

"The difference between this year's team and my 2021 team is that I have five returners who know what it feels like to be conference champs and get to the championship match, and then lose it. The six of us watched that match together for the first time days ago. My purpose for that was for them to remember what it felt like to fall short, but also to motivate them to work to get further this season. Those five returners are my foundation, and that's where we must start."

Mountain View women's soccer team will host Hill College Aug. 19 at 5 p.m. in the home opener. The Lions will host Arlington Baptist University Aug. 23 before going on the road for games at Austin College and the University of Texas at Dallas on Aug. 24 and Aug. 26, respectively.

The Lions will open DAC play at home against Dallas College Richland Sept. 20. They conclude the regular season at Dallas College North Lake Oct. 18.

Mountain View men's soccer team also hosts Hill College Aug. 19 in the home opener. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. The Lions play Coastal Bend College Aug. 27 and Dodge City Community College Sept. 3 – both games at Dallas College Richland. Mountain View hosts Louisiana State University Eunice Sept. 6.

The Lions open the conference schedule at home against Dallas College Cedar Valley Sept. 14. They conclude DAC play Oct. 12 at home against Dallas College Richland.
