Seven Volleyball Players Earn All-DAC Awards

DALLAS – Seven Dallas College Mountain View volleyball players earned All-Dallas Athletic Conference honors.

Sophomore right side hitter Samantha Newman and freshman right side JaKyra Roberts received First Team All-DAC honors. Sophomore middle blocker Jasmine Phillips, sophomore defensive specialist Jamaya Davis and freshman middle blocker Kendricia Johnson earned Second Team All-DAC recognition. Sophomore setters Madison Holcomb and Zyara Harrison were Honorable Mention All-DAC selections.

A native of Alvarado, Texas, Newman had 247 kills, 145 digs and 36 blocks. She had 12 matches with double-digit kills, including a season-high 18 in a four-set win over Dallas College Cedar Valley.

Roberts, of Carthage, Texas, put down 175 kills, had 54 blocks and 77 digs. She had a season-high 15 kills in a five-set match with Dallas College North Lake, and recorded five blocks in three matches.

A product of Boerne, Texas, Phillips finished with 241 kills, 308 digs, 44 aces and 29 blocks. She had double-digit kills in 12 matches, with a season-best 19 in a four-set win at Southwestern Christian College.

Davis, who hails from Longview, Texas, had 560 digs for an average of 5.89 per set. She also had 32 aces. Davis recorded double-digit digs in 21 matches, including a career-high 57 in the five-set match with North Lake.

Johnson, of Dallas, had 65 kills, 46 blocks and 95 digs. She had a season-high six kills in two matches, and recorded a season-best five blocks in three.

Holcomb, a native of Fort Worth, Texas, had 585 assists, 230 digs and 37 aces. She had a career-high 37 assists in the four-set win Southwestern Christian College, and recorded 20 or more in 16 matches. Holcomb had a career-best 19 digs in the five-set match against North Lake.

Harrison, a product of Ferris, Texas, had 430 assists, 191 digs and 27 aces. She had a season-high 26 assists in a five-set win over Dallas College Richland, and recorded 20 or more in seven matches. Harrison had a career-best 17 digs in a five-set match with Dallas College Brookhaven.
