Lions' Hot Hitting Highlights Another Win

TERRELL, Texas – Dallas College Mountain View's volleyball team won its second match in as many days, beating host Southwestern Christian College, 17-25, 25-16, 25-19, 25-12 Friday.

It was the second straight road win for the Lions – both 3-1 victories. Friday's victory over the National Junior College Athletic Association Division I Rams followed Mountain View's second win over Dallas Christian College this season.

Mountain View hit a season-best .227, using efficient attack percentages in the middle sets to seize control of the match. The Lions hit .320 in the second set, putting down 12 kills with four errors in 25 attacks. They pounded 16 kills, and committed just two errors in 44 swings in the third set for a .318 clip. The Lions secured the win with a .259 hitting percentage in the fourth set, putting down 10 balls with three errors in 27 attempts.

Destinee Johnson had a season-high 15 kills, and hit .324. Sydnei Pena had a season-best .423 hitting percentage, while matching her season high with 12 kills. Johnson and Pena combined for 10 of Mountain View's 96 digs. Skylar Daniels finished with 29 digs. Kahmya Rice and Jade McCafferty both had 20 assists. Rice had two aces, and McCafferty one. Ceciliana Pena ripped off four aces, and had 17 digs. Gracie George had 13 digs.

Mountain View (4-14) will open Dallas Athletic Conference play against seventh-ranked Dallas College Brookhaven (9-8) at home 6 p.m. Monday on Pack it Blue night.
